BTD-350 – Long Range Thunderstorm Warning System

BTD-350 – Long Range Thunderstorm Warning System

The BTD-350 Thunderstorm Detector is a standalone sensor for reliable lightning detection up to 83 km, designed for demanding outdoor and marine environments.

The BTD-350 Thunderstorm Detector is a high-performance lightning sensor for reliable storm monitoring and early warning in demanding environments. Using advanced quasi-electrostatic measurement technology, it detects all lightning types with an exceptionally low false-alarm rate and can issue overhead lightning alerts even before the first discharge.

Unlike RF-based detectors, the BTD-350 is immune to radio interference and offers a detection range of up to 83 km, exceeding FAA aerodrome requirements. It detects cloud-to-ground, cloud-to-cloud, and intra-cloud lightning, as well as charged precipitation, and complies with EN 50536 and IEC 62793 for use in safety-critical, regulated applications, including marine and offshore.

Built for continuous outdoor operation, it features rugged, low-maintenance construction with high resistance to vibration, salt spray, and electromagnetic interference. Integration is supported via Ethernet or RS422, with optional relay outputs for local warning devices. An optional direction-finding feature provides lightning bearing information to improve situational awareness and response.
