The HD2013 is a reliable and sturdy tipping bucket rain gauge, built entirely from corrosion resistant materials in order to guarantee reliability, accuracy and durability.and to withstand even extreme conditions. Depending on the environment where the rain gauge is placed, there is a choice between heated or non-heated version (HD2013R).

The principle of a tipping bucket rain gauge is simple: depending on the quantity of rainfall, the tipping bucket mechanism fills and empties. Every tipping action operates a reed contact: in this way counting the quantity of the rainfall. This means that the tipping bucket has one enormous advantage: it needs no power supply to operate. Power supply is only a necessity when circumstances demand heating because of low environmental temperatures.

Reading the number of counts, in other words reading the rainfall, can be done locally by using a local (battery operated) datalogger such as the HD2013-DB. But it is also possible to communicate directly the results through one of our dataloggers of the HD33 series. The built-in 4G/3G/GPRS modem makes it easy to upload the data directly to one of our cloud applications or to your own secured server.

HD2013 is available as well with optional analog output at choice between 4…20 mA or 0…10 Vdc (to be specified when placing the order) or with optional SDI-12 digital output. When ordering, the rain gauge is completely setup to be used.

Easy to install, adjustable feet and leveling device integrated. Bird spikes and accesories for raised mounting available.

HD2016 is a rain gauge that detects the weight of the rainfall collected by a 400 cm² inlet. The sensor is a load cell located at the base of the rainfall collecting reservoir. The signal of the load cell is processed by the internal electronic board of the rain gauge in order to output the information on the rainfall.

Various outputs are available:

RS485 with Modbus-RTU or proprietary ASCII protocol

SDI-12

Voltage-free pulse contact output

The rain gauge is able to provide the total rainfall, the partial rainfall (from the last reset command or from the last reading command), the average rainfall rate in the last minute and in the last hour. The measured rainfall is regularly saved into a non-volatile memory, which retains the information even in case of power failure.

The automatic discharge of the rainfall collected allows using a compact and lightweight structure for the installation of the rain gauge.

So as to ensure accurate measurement even with low temperature climatic conditions, a version with heating which is automatically activated below +4 °C has been developed (HD2016R) so that snow deposits and ice formations are prevented.
